a Flemish Baroque painter who specialized in landscapes. His brother and nephews specialized in flower paintings and some have been attributed to him also. He was the son of Jan Brueghel the Elder and Catharina van Marienburg and his work is similar to that of his older half-brother and teacher, Jan Brueghel the Younger, and Jan the Younger's son Abraham Brueghel. He became a member of the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke in 1645. He became deacon of the guild in 1653, 1665, 1671 and 1673.
