a French poet and translator, famous in his time as for his translations of Homer and for his academic honors. Raised in Paris , Anne Bignan quickly developed a vocation for both the letters and the competition, winning in 1813 and 1814, several awards open competition . After publishing in 1819 his first translations of Homer, he won between 1822 and 1849 no less than 35 prizes, runners and endorsements for the elegies, odes and epistles he tirelessly sends to the French Academy and the Academy of floral Games , the archaeological Society of Beziers as the emulation Company Cambrai as well as many other academies.
