According to Antonio Palomino , whom the most complete biography of the painter is due, he was born in Cordoba in the midst of a very illustrious family and trained with Pablo de Céspedes . On the death of Céspedes he went to Granada to continue his artistic training before settling in Bujalance, where his wife had any hacienda, accompanied by two sisters were also painters.
