Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria (1645-1657) for the Greek Orthodox Church. During his tenure as Patriarch the tensions regarding the Sinai Dependency of Cairo continued and required the intervention of Sultan Mohammed IV (1648-1687) in support of the Sinai monks. Patriarch Ioannikios died on 15th September 1657 from the plague.
