a Rotterdam wine merchant and Freemason , a radical patriot and unitarian. He belonged to the first Catholic politicians in the Netherlands. Midderigh was the rotating chairman of the Second National Assembly during the coup on the night of Sunday on Monday, January 22, 1798. He supported this coup, but was arrested himself on 12 June 1798 at the next coup d'état, ending his political career. In 1777 Hendrik Midderigh took over the wine trade from his father. In 1787 he became a member of the Vrijkorps (civic guard) and later of the Burger-Sociëteit in Rotterdam.
