a Dutch painter. He was mainly known for his interiors with figures, mostly by candle or lamp light. Rosierse was born in Dordrecht and, except for a brief trip to Leeuwarden, lived the rest of his life and work in the city. At first he was a clerk in a shoemaking, but later he chose painting as a career and he became a student of Machiel Versteeg and John Boshamer. Between 1840 and 1889 Rosierse exhibited regularly at the annual Exhibition of Living Masters . He was an honorary member of the Dordrecht artists 'society' Pictura.
