born in Rouen, was a French philosopher and mathematician and Doctor of Letters. He was one of the first members of the Académie française and the first occupant of Seat 29. He studied at the Jesuit philosophy, mathematics and theology. He is the author of a book on the label of the Grand Chamberlain of France , published in 1623 , and a paraphrase of Ecclesiastes, published in 1632. His main work, High School, where he deals with the "honest" remained unfinished.
