If unable to get essence of spruce, twigs may be boiled down and strained.

  1. 3 pounds loaf sugar
  2. 5 gallons water
  3. 1 yeast cake
  4. A small piece of lemon peel
  5. Essence of spruce
  • Mix all together
  • When fermented, then preserve in closed bottles

  • Alternatively, Molasses or brown sugar can be used and the lemon peel left out.
