His first prize was a packet brig carrying dispatches from Calcutta to the English General before Angora. Aboard one of these prizes was John Rose Archer, reputed to be a former crewman of Blackbeard; Archer joined Phillips and was elected quartermaster.....after capture, Archer was temporarily spared, but died on the gallows at Boston with three of the other pirates on June 2, 1724...... Also said to have died in final battle with Maynard [CHECK]....The pirates gave widely reprinted speeches before their executions. Archer blamed drinking but also blamed brutal merchant captains who drove oppressed sailors to seek piracy as a tempting way to escape......He served in the Atlantic, especially in New Scotland, where he was later executed.

In 1718 the Bahamas Governor Woodes Rogers tried to clear the area of pirates so he offered a pardon to any pirates who “gave up their ways” and Captain Auger accepted the pardon and became a merchant/trader. Auger eventually returned to his evil ways and was captured in New Providence, Bahamas. He was tried and hung in December 1718....... English pirate. He served in the Caribbean. He was caught and imprisoned Woodes Rogers privateer and pirate hunter. After his release from prison, he returned to piracy. Later, he was persecuted and privateer hunter Benjamin Hornigold. He was convicted and executed in New Providence, where he was governor just Woodes Rogers.

An English pirate and member of the crew of the the The Charles, led by Captain Daniel Plowman in the Caribbean. The Charles left Boston in July 1703 on a piratical expedition against Spanish and French ships. Shortly after departure, Captain Plowman became ill and was quarantined in his cabin. The crew, led by quartermaster Anthony Holding, however, rebelled and Lieutenant John Quelch was chosen to lead the crew. In late September, Captain Plowman died of a fever. The ship and crew later nine Portuguese ships and gained a cargo of weapons, skins, sugar, fabrics, boxes of gold dust and money. Unfortunately for them, England and Portugal had completed an alliance and the English Admiralty issued an arrest warrant for the entire crew. In May 1704 the Charles docked at (what is now) Marblehead, MA, and the unsuspecting crew split their booty and went ashore. Within a week, most of the crew (including Austin) were caught and jailed. Austin escaped, but was shortly recaptured. In early June he went to court in Boston and -- based on the testimony of his fellow crew members -- was found guilty and sentenced to several years of imprisonment.
