Epiky

Reasonableness, equity -- as opposed to rigid law, to the strict letter. Greek epi, according to + eikos, likely, reasonable. Also epicay, epicheia. Hugh Latimer in a Sermon of 1549 declared: For avoydyng disturbance in the communewealth, such an epiky and moderation may be used.
