Being avid colonialists, we were saddened by the demise of Colonial Homes and when we went online, we were rather surprised to find little in the way of a centralized resource on the Web that catered to colonial-philes. This web site is an attempt to rectify that sad situation. Colonial Sense covers all aspects of (mostly American) history between 1492 and the mid-18th century. If it happened then, you can read about it here now.

This site provides information for the dedicated lover of colonial life and antiques of that era. You'll find original articles on selected houses and towns, antiques, how-to guides, and various aspects of early American society (including recipes and a dictionary), as well as accumulated information (such as the Event Calendar and Antique Auction Result sections) from various sources. We also offer a Business District section, a Marketplace, Town Square forums and a searchable Online Resources section with links to a variety of colonial-related web sites, just to name a few. And we've partnered with Amazon to offer a hand-picked selection of early American-related books, dvds, videos and more.

We are constantly striving to improve Colonial Sense, in both the depth and breadth of material; however, if we've overlooked an area you consider to be important, please let us know and we will see what we can do to include it -- if it's important to the colonial sensibility, it's important to us!
