To advertise on the Colonial Sense web site, you have to first become a Member. Or, rather, you sign up to be a Member with certain privileges, advertising being the foremost of those. As a prospective advertiser, there are five Membership types available for your consideration:
Citizen,
Trader,
Dealer,
Merchant and
Industrialist.
A
Citizen membership is the "introductory level; it's
free, you get 1 Calendar Event
or 3 Marketplace posts, and the option of listing your company in our Business District (must link to your own website).
A
Trader membership is perfect for a business with a small inventory and quick turnover. You only get either 1 Event
or 3 Marketplace listings, but these are permanent "slots" over the course of your membership. All other memberships get many more listings upon signup, but they lean towards firms with many items, some of which may take a lengthy time to sell. Thus, the regular listings are to showcase a lot of different items (or events) at one time, and they may be on the boards indefinitely. The Trader, on the other hand, has reusable listings that can be updated/changed frequently. You can only display a few items at once, but those items can change however often as you require. Traders also receive a Business District Listing (but not a Company Page). Trader memberships cost $75 USD for one year.

Dealer membership, in addition to Citizen benefits, gives you a Business District Listing that can be linked directly to your existing web site or lead to a Company Page (if you don't have your own site), which functions as a sort of "mini-web site," with full text and graphics. Suppose you're a book dealer who has some books of early America and antiques, but you have other topics as well. You can create a Company Page with full text and graphics promoting just your colonial items, AND have a link back to your main website. You have direct access to your page and can modify/update it at any time. In addition, any Marketplace listings you post can link back to your Company Page, and your Company Page will list all of your current Marketplace listings (and Calendar Events) as well. Dealer memberships cost $125 USD for one year.

Merchant membership includes the Business District Listing and Company Page, but also allows you to upload a display ad graphic that appears site-wide. When a user clicks on your ad, they are taken directly to your Company page (or your external web site, if you prefer). You can change, modify, or update your ad as much as you like over the course of your membership. Ads run vertically along the right-hand side of every Colonial Sense page. Animated gifs are allowed. Merchant memberships cost $250 USD for one year.
Industrialist memberships are an extension of the regular Merchant type in that, in addition to all of the other benefits, also give you a Promotional (Promo) Ad and Promo Page. Normally, clicking on your ad will take the user to your Company Page. With a Promo Ad, clicking on the ad brings up an additional page promoting (hence the name) a specific aspect, product or service of your business. The Promo Page can then link to your Company Page (or external web site) to guide the potential customer to you. For example, suppose you sell colonial crafts and want to call attention to your Christmas-themed products before the Yule season. You could then post a specific display ad -- "Check out our old-world Santas!" --which would link to a Promo Page with text and photos of your Jolly Old Elves. Links on the Promo Page would then bring the reader to your Company Page (and exposure to your other offerings as well). You can update/modify your Promo Page as much as and whenever you wish. Industrialist memberships cost $350 USD for one year.
