a Flemish composer and church musician. Van Helmont composed a large number of religious and secular works, including the oratorio Judith, an opera Grisélidis and for Holy Week Les neuf Leçons de la Semaine Sainte for Basso Continuo and soprano. His general style leans towards that of his Italian contemporaries, his Pièces de Clavecin by Jean-Philippe Rameau affected. In the library of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels are 525 manuscripts of Charles-Joseph van Helmont.
