a native of the Peloponnesus, who was persecuted by the Ottoman governor of Athens. Having been released from prison at the request of some of the town's leaders, he sailed in an English ship for Yarmouth in 1608. The clergy of Norwich received him hospitably, and he was sent by the bishop to Trinity College, Cambridge.
