a German composer and conductor. He was a student of Composition Johann Christian Cannabich and Joseph Haydn. In Zweibrücken he was the conductor of a military band and worked as an instrumental teacher and composer. In 1784 he moved to Paris where he worked as a musician and composer. 1795 at the founding of the Conservatoire de Paris , he was clarinet teacher and there one of the first 12 professors for his instrument.
