a French painter of the romance. He was a pupil of Gros and Devéria. Boissard debuted at the Paris Salon of 1835 with a large painting (1.60 m high, 2.25 m wide, oil on canvas ), which immediately caused a sensation. Due to the recent history of France , the softly depicted dramatic scene the audience touched was a well: lying in the twilight, in the snow, two dying soldiers cowering on a dead horse.
