a 19th-century painter from Belgium. There is very little information about the details of his life. He was born in Eeklo and died in Ghent. According to the RKD he was the pupil of Joseph Paelinck and Willem Jacob Herreyns. He is known for portraits and historical allegories, and became the teacher of Edouard Auguste Wallays and Jacques Louis Godineau.
