Brant also had plans to start a musical academy, and in 1748 received permission to organize a lottery to gather the necessary funds. Because of financial difficulties, he was forced to pawn their lottery letter. He is one of the most important copyists of Swedish and foreign music during the 1700s. Manuscripts of Romance works in Brant's hand is especially valuable in the Roman research, because he was her teacher so close and reworked some of his works.
