Ingredients
  1. Mackerel
  2. Water
  3. 1 Egg
  4. Nutmeg
  5. Lemon peel
  6. Thyme
  7. Parsely
  8. Pepper
  9. Salt
  10. Breadcrumbs
  11. Flour
  12. Sauce :
    • Butter with catchup or
    • walnut pickle
    Directions
  13. Gut them, wash them clean
  14. Pull out the roe at the neck end, boil it in a little water
  15. Bruise it with a spoon
  16. Beat up the yolk of an egg, with a little nutmeg, lemon-peel cut fine, shred thyme, some parsley boiled and chopped fine, a little pepper and salt, and a few crums of bread
  17. mix all well together, and fill the mackerel
  18. flour them well and broil them nicely

  19. Let your sauce be plain butter, with a little catchup or walnut pickle.,
