RARE ENGLISH NEEDLEWORK LAND PLAN FOR WALTHAM ABBEY, ESSEX, WROUGHT BY MARY ANN BLAND RICKETTS, AGED TEN YEARS, 1802. Comprising a map identifying various roads and landmarks such as Cobbins Brook, the Green Man pub and the Ditch, as well as farms, fields, and orchards by owner's names. Also including a table of measurements for each of the fields and stitched with numerous depictions of buildings, trees, flowers, domestic and farm animals, signed and dated by the maker in the center, all within a large and elaborate floral border. Worked in silk and chenille threads on linen, 28 ¾ x 20 ¼ inches, sight. Frame 34 ¼ x 25 ¾ inches. Sold at Northeast Auctions March 3-4, 2012.
